Listen: Treasureseason - "The City"
Treasureseason first appeared on Best Fit a couple of years ago with the cyclophilic urban track, “Bicycle”. The duo was originally an Anglo-Swede, San Fran-based collaboration made by David Powell and Ida Olsson, which flourished with two chilled, dreamscape-filled EPs.
Powell subsequently relocated to the UK whilst Olsson returned to her native Sweden, and was replaced in the follow up to the project by writer and performer, Jess Bartlet. This more recent formation has produced a new dream pop gem called “The City”.
Glowing synth structures permeate the whole track, recalling 80s electro-pop ditties and immersing the listener in layers upon layers of electronic bliss. Bartlet sings about the simple things that make living in a city an inexhaustible source of excitement, with the naivety and the tenaciousness not dissimilar to Bruce Springsteen’s own “It’s Hard To Be A Saint In The City”.
