Chichester outfit TRAAMS have announced their debut LP, Grin, will be released on 16 September via FatCat, with ‘Flowers’ being the latest track drawn from the record.
This isn’t the same kind of low-budget thrashiness prevalent across much of the British garage-rock circuit. It’s toned and muscular guitar-pop masquerading as grimy lo-fi, with sucker-punch guitar hooks scrawled messily over frantic beat patterns and Stu Hopkins’ scatty sing-caterwaul. ‘Flowers’s accompanying visuals, directed by Boneyards’ James Burgess, show the trio drenched in psychedelic sludge, or rather dyed green custard. Sorry for ruining the illusion guys.
