Cardiff post-punks Totem Terrors reveal eerie new “Narrowman” video [Premiere]
In their newest visual offering, Cardiff-based Totem Terrors pair torrid post-punk riffs with a surreal scene of kidnapping and torture.
The first few seconds of the video see an inconspicuous passerby dragged into a warehouse outfitted with macabre ornaments. The victim is tied to a chair and videotaped by a man sporting a pig mask, while a creature with long black hair subjects him to physical and psychological abuse. On paper, it all sounds anxiety-inducing, but the clip is positively brimming with playful irony.
Tongue-in-cheek horror film aesthetics pair perfectly with the band’s dark and minimal approach to songwriting. From start to finish, “Narrowman” is driven by repetitive guitar phrases while Max Hicks’ vocals steadily escalate to screeching.
Totem Terrors’ second record, Hard Science, will be released on 29 June via Diet Pops. Check out the “Narrowman” video below.
