TOLLIVER has the angel and devil on his shoulders with succulent new offering "Twisted"
LA-based TOLLIVER balances his religious upbringing with sinful desires on viscous new track "Twisted".
Born as a son of a Baptist, TOLLIVER embraces gospel singing into his sultry, and ominous R&B tones that sit beside the likes of The Weeknd and Twin Shadow.
"Twisted" arrives as a supple track that elegantly glides through synth-fuelled distortion that envisions the idea of having the devil whispering in your ear.
TOLLIVER's latest offering is built over a ticking beat, translating as a bustling night in the city where TOLLIVER is reeled in by temptation.
The more angelic tones of the track are translated through the chorus that sees the deeper pitches harmonising with a higher backing vocalist.
Speaking about his new offering, TOLLIVER explains, “’Twisted’ is about a great night turned suddenly dark, a night when Courvoisier and kissing strangers is the only solution. A post-show argument sent me spiralling into what was admittedly a turnt party, only to face my fractured and fucked relationships the next morning.”
"Twisted" is the second offering from TOLLIVER's forthcoming EP RITES after June's "I Gotchu".
Describing his EP further, TOLLIVER explains, “The songs are about fantasies, but nothing described is fantastic. I write about things that are immediate, things that just happened to me. I need to let them go, or they'll drag me to hell. It's ultimately a joyous EP. I like indulging, I like redemption, I like sex. But nothing is worse than broken relationships, empty bank accounts and fear. So I beg for forgiveness via these songs, knowing I'll be back at confessional in no time.”
