Sweden's Tilde makes an emphatic return with the incredible old-school ballad "The Goodbye"

After almost making a breakthrough around a decade ago, Tilde suffered a serious illness which prevented her pursuing her musical dream. Instead, she eventually recovered and went to South America to work with UN refugee agencies before returning - via Spain - to Sweden last year to begin making music again.

"The Goodbye" is one of those tracks which instantly makes you sit up and take notice, or immediately stop whatever you're doing. Beautiful piano, subtle electronics and sweeping, cinematic strings from the Stockholm Strings are enough on their own but add in Tilde's heart-stopping vocal - a sort of traditional balladeering voice but with the most delicious crack at the edges - and you have close to perfection. Honestly, this is glorious stuff.

Of the track, Tilde tells us "After struggling to save a tearing on and off relationship I started writing this song. In a way the process of writing helped me realise that there was no longer a way back. That even though it's painful to leave it's even more hurtful to stay. So this song is one of those defining moments."
