The Sukis reflect on their teenage love affairs on "Cherryade"
A melding of teenage nostalgia, classic indie-rock riffs and alt-pop percussion make up The Sukis’ dynamic new single, “Cherryade”.
Hertfordshire-based trio The Sukis are the garage rock band known for their contagious melodies and irresistible guitar hooks. Made up of frontman Tige Burns, keyboard player Joe Sage and drummer Oliver Rich, the young band first found success on none other than Tik Tok. Now, The Sukis have not only amassed a considerable online following, but the trio have also established themselves as one of the most exciting upcoming indie bands of the moment. To cement their position, the band have returned with their new 90s-eqsue single, “Cherryade”.
Like something straight out of a British coming of age movie, “Cherryade” is brimming with nostalgic synth sounds, bright indie guitar riffs and a storytelling vocal style. Lyrically, the track is youthful and playful - perfect for late summer romances or reliving teenage flings.
Speaking of their new high-energy single, The Sukis explain, “Cherryade” takes a self-reflective journey through teenage romantic affairs. An upbeat, glistening indie-rock song exploring the implications of nostalgia, through the reverb-soaked guitars, dreamy synths and groovy-driving bassline. Taking different elements from early Strokes to the harmonies of Queen with traces of 90s dream-pop ambience. “Cherryade” is the party anthem, the cleanup and the soundtrack.”
The song showcases The Sukis in a fresh, more polished light and demonstrates impressive growth in both musicality and songwriting since their early releases in 2020.
