Listen: The Pictish Trail – “Wait Until” [Premiere]
Lost Map Records boss Johnny Lynch, aka The Pictish Trail, is marking the full release of Secret Soundz Vol. 1 & 2 on Moshi Moshi Records with his striking new single, “Wait Until”.
The song was written shortly after the passing of Lynch’s mother and encapsulates the disorientating sense of loss with stark disparities. Whilst a tight, metronomic beat remains the constant symbol for unconditional love, other components spring in unexpected directions: watery harmonies weep, echoes float, and deformed, juddering beats tease a budding acid house epic. Like the fluidity of grief, “Wait Until” warms and defrosts, moving from a creation laden with strict rhythms to something quite melodic and liberating.
Secret Soundz Volumes 1 & 2 is released with “Wait Until” on 9 June via Moshi Moshi Records. Tour dates below.
