Listen: The Night VI – Thinking Of You
Multi-national sextet, The Night VI, formed three years ago, sans the Roman numerals. Now signed to Parlophone, with a rather ominously lovelorn EP, Still Thinking About You, in the pipeline; it’s high time the world got to know their delicate pop constructions a little more intimately.
‘Thinking Of You’s enchanting xx-style guitar intro peels away to reveal Sophie-Rose Harper’s crisply haunting Stevie Nicks comeSharon Van Etten thrum. Propulsive bass grooves poke through the cigarette smoke fogginess; soothing guitars and swelling synths providing a tender accompaniment to Sophie-Rose’s gently cradled chorus.
One song in and we’re already certain that The Night VI’s dreamy escapism will provide a stiff challenge to the dominance of London Grammar in 2013′s pure pop stakes.
Still Thinking of You is out on 12 August via Parlophone Records.
