The Japanese House teases new EP with gorgeous new single "Face Like Thunder"
The Japanese House, aka 21-year-old multi-instrumentalist Amber Bain, has shared "Face Like Thunder", the first single from her next EP.
The EP's called Swim Against The Tide, and "Face Like Thunder" is a beguiling preview. It's got Bain's signature vocals - a mixture of Bon Iver-y vocoders and despondent drawls - front and centre, with frothy '80s guitars and synth chirruping away underneath. It's a weighty gut-punch of emotion and melody, with wiry strands of noise darting in and out of earshot like sonic dragonflies - Bain's still yet to put a foot wrong as The Japanese House.
Bain has a busy autumn of touring ahead - find out where she's headed on her website.
The Swim Against The Tide EP is out 11 November via Dirty Hit (Marika Hackman, The 1975). It follows Bain's Pools To Bathe In and Clean short-players.
