The Holy tell a tale of human arrogance on expansive new track "The Rocket Song"
Finnish group The Holy have shared their sprawling new track "The Rocket Song", which tells a story of a world where the last two humans on Earth let their egos get the better of them.
The Finland band continue to project their epic sound on "The Rocket Song", which commences with a pulsating, sci-fi synth melody that sets the tone for the intergalactic story behind the song.
Eetu Iivari’s vocals guide the track's energetic undertones as he soars through a minefield of throbbing electronica, sharp percussion and twangy guitars on his journey towards the epic chorus.
When the first chorus hits, the beat comes to a brief stop, allowing Iivari's vocals to act like an epiphany as he sings, "We are going to build a rocket / Escape all this nonsense / Mother nature can you hear me / We're going to let you have it."
Although the lyrics tell a tale of the last two humans on Earth deciding to explore new galaxies and failing, Iivari’s words could also be interpreted, in part, as an apology to mother nature, presumably in a world where climate change is irreversible, "Forgive me how I mistreated you / Forgive us we’re just a bunch of fools."
Iivari says of their latest outing, "The last people living on earth decide to build a space rocket and try to go through black holes to new galaxies. But they fail, like we humans tend to do. We often think we're unbeatable."
He adds, "It feels empowering to write a song when you’re feeling anger towards the world. But when shit actually hits the fan, it just feels sad, empty and depressing. I hope the song will help us remember these times in the future, and to remember how small humanity is in relation to mother nature. That we should respect nature far more than we do."
The four-and-a-half-minute track is another grand outing from the Finnish group, and is the latest outing from The Holy’s forthcoming album Mono Freedom, arriving after March’s "Twilight Of The Idiots" / "No Trial In The Dark".
