Australian foursome The Harpoons exclusively debut the soulful "Girl"
The track is taken from their imminent second album Amaro and shows a different side to the electro-pop wunderkinds following the sultry tropical rhythm of previous release ‘Pressure’.
Channelling 90s R'n'B vibes, "Girl" coerces listeners to sway to its bassy groove and skittish drumbeats, the classy harmonies of “We can dance all night” surmising desire and elevating the song to a biblical euphoria.
Having originally met on the Australian folk scene, Bec Rigby, Martin King and brothers Henry and Jack Mardin spent a sabbatical in London, immersing themselves in the city’s famously thriving basement clubs and soaking up inspiration from the plethora of sounds they encountered there. The aftermath sees them bearing more resemblance to the likes of Disclosure or AlunaGeorge, albeit with a shamelessly nostalgic twist.
"This is Bec’s salute to all of the beautiful women in her life, written in a moment of deepest gratitude," say the band. “This is a sensual love song for the friendships that help you to create your life, to dance till you are all sweaty and you let your hair down and you take your top off and scream out for life! “This is a love song for women who support their women to be the best versions of themselves, and remind them to always put themselves first.”
