The Crookes embody a sense of adventure with "I Wanna Waste My Time On You" [Premiere]
Having announced the creation of their own label Anywhere Records, beloved Sheffield outfit The Crookes are premiering a breezy statement of intent with "I Wanna Waste My Time On You".
With jangling guitars and resounding vocals, The Crookes echo with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. Its enchanting, distorted refrains build into a pop chorus purpose-built to sweep you off your feet.
"'I Wanna Waste My Time On You' is about wanderlust and adventure, about seeing the world, about indulging in hedonistic pleasures without once feeling apologetic for it," lyricist and guitarist Daniel Hopewell says of the song. "This track was one of the first we wrote, and at the time we all sat down and said we wanted to do this album differently."
"It’s hard to say what to expect without it sounding awfully cliched, but I think it will be quite a surprise for people who already know us," he continues. "We’ve definitely got a lot more creative and expansive with production, using a lot of sounds we’ve never used before. It’s a really positive, upbeat album and I’d say it’s by far and away the most pop we’ve ever gone. I’d like to think it’s still intelligent pop music though. We’re still trying to say something…"
"I Wanna Waste My Time On You" is the first song to be unveiled from The Crookes' imminent fourth record. The track is available as a download along with B-side "Ex-Lovers" featuring Misty Miller.
