The Convenience are happily letting loose on new single "Accelerator (Pts I & II)"
Kicking off their debut album campaign, 80s inspired duo The Convenience return with their funk-infused title track, "Accelerator (Pts I & II)".
Awash with funky basslines, distinctive staccato vocals and their signature retro vibe, "Accelerator (Pts I & II)" is arguably The Convenience’s grooviest offering yet. As the pair from New Orleans flow effortlessly between infectious guitar riffs and futuristic synth sounds, they seamlessly immerse listeners into their world of upbeat, serotonin-filled alt-pop.
The track flirts with the idea of losing all control and relinquishing power to a romantic interest. Playing with the metaphor of an accelerating car that takes their love to a higher place, The Convenience cleverly depict that all-too-familiar experience of a quickly snowballing love that leaves a person with two options: to allow all-encompassing love or fight it. The Convenience chose to let love in.
Furthering the automotive metaphor, the music video for "Accelerator (Pts I & II)" begins with the duo working in a garage before panning to the pair sitting inside their car. Throughout the visuals The Convenience change locations several times, but the two things that remain constant are the high-energy dance breaks and their relaxed attitude. This track may occupy a lively sonic space, but "Accelerator (Pts I & II)" is reassuringly calm.
Acting as the first taste of their upcoming debut record — Accelerator, the song is a perfect introduction to who The Convenience are and where they are headed. The forthcoming album promises to be equally vivacious and filled with the same pop energy that runs through the title track.
