THANKS (ex-Alphabeat) return with the thunderous funk fun of "I Can Get"
After being away for six months, Danish duo THANKS are back with a brand new banger of a single.
Anders SG and Anders B used to be part of Alphabeat, but as THANKS they're very much at the funkier end of the pop spectrum. New single "I Can Get" confirms this.
Packed with horns, house-y piano and the gritty and soulful vocal of Christian Vium (singer with fellow Danes Go Go Berlin), "I Can Get" thumps along with giddy vitality, a heady combination of electro, gospel and funk. Having witnessed their live show at SPOT Festival recently, it's fair to say that THANKS put the emphasis on fun....and massive, boneshaking beats. This track just about captures the best of that experience.
"The working title for this track has been 'Funk1' throughout the whole process," THANKS tell us. "If you are learning to play the drums, Rock1 is the simplest rhythm you begin with. 'I Can Get' is our version of that rhythm with an added touch of funk. When we wrote the song and the lyrics we were tapping in to the vibe of super masculine and sexy male vocalists like Tom Jones and Mick Jagger. So we brought Christian Vium of Go Go Berlin on board on this track which we’re very excited about. He has the most amazing and cool sound ! Our musical backgrounds are pretty different, but we quickly found that we have a common love for 90s cartoon-rock and French electro like Justice and Daft Punk."
