Tender Central offers atmospheric hush-pop with "Lava"
The Devon-born electronic artist (real name India Bourne) is assisted by producers Kideko and Jakwob on an ethereal new single.
Bourne struck out on her own last year with viral Spotify hit "Wake Me Up".
On "Lava"'s wintry opening, Bourne accessorises a feather-light vocal with childlike chants. The second verse sees a guest appearance from Matthew Hegarty of Matthew and the Atlas take the song in a folk-pop direction. But undulating beats add pop drama, coming together with skittering electronic clicks in a lush chorus: "You're lava," sings Bourne, "I want your fire." The whole thing is a balance of warm and cool tones, offering rich melodies with a dusting of icing-sugar snow.
Tender Central will play St Pancras Old Church on 27 April, followed by festival dates.
