Tei Shi’s debut “M&Ms” is a lovely one, but new producer MP Williams deconstructs and revamps the song entirely to leave us with a track that plays more like a short film.
Pop vocalist Valerie Teicher has a knack for creating ‘glacier-melting R&B,’ which is why we chose her as our UnDiscovered Act of the Day in July. “M&Ms” was the first we heard from her. She layered her vocals beautifully, using them as an instrument. Following her lead, New York producer MP Williams builds upon that idea.
Having produced for A$AP Rocky and Doley Bernays, Williams has since earned some praise for his vivid sounds. On this remix, he builds upon Teicher’s sentiment: ‘I had a dream that you left me,’ and the result is his self-described ‘paranoid’ take. Williams’s Balance EP is scheduled for release next year.
