Teenage rapper MIKE shares woozy debut EP BY THE WATER
18-year-old Bronx-based rapper MIKE has introduced himself to the world and dropped self-produced debut EP BY THE WATER.
MIKE, who's inspired by the likes of MF DOOM and Earl Sweatshirt, is following up a handful of standalone tracks and singles (including "May God Bless Your Hustle") with the four-track short-player, which you can hear above. It's an introspective collection that centres on ambition, anxiety, and self-determination with crisp psych-soul production forming the foundation behind - MIKE tightropes between experimental tangents and local hallmarks with his new output.
MIKE is set to head back to London soon (he left the UK capital for NYC in 2010) to get the ball rolling on his debut LP. Find out more about what makes him tick with Pitchfork's profile from back in July.
