Listen: Syron – Breaking (Tom Flynn Remix) [Best Fit Premiere]
Come the close of 2012, ‘Breaking’ – the debut single from young Londoner Daisy ‘Syron’ Russell – is destined to be crowned one of the stand-out tracks of the year. Perfect in every sense of the word, even excessive amounts of repeated plays can’t seem to quell the sheer magnitude of joy its three and a half minutes exude.
And naturally, the flurry of remixes begin to emerge as Monday’s release date approaches. Here, stripped almost entirely of vocals, Tom Flynn takes the track to more progressive heights – zoning in on the irrestible hook “I keep forgetting that I’m not allowed to love you”, the fast paced dubstep of the original exchanged for a charming house backdrop.
Syron will perform at White Heat in London alongside Foxes and Faye on October 23 and has just been confirmed as the final addition to the Best Fit stage at Bristol’s Fear Of Fiction all-dayer on November 10. She’ll appear alongside El Perro Del Mar, Chad Valley and Glass Animals. More info on that here.
‘Breaking’ is released via Black Butter Records on September 24. Listen to the original version here.
