Syd B's "Feel Love" is the melodic R&B empowerment anthem you need in your life right now
"I think what's made me really content with being content on my own - besides putting all my energy into music - is surrounding myself with strong fucking ladies," says Syd B.
The 20-year-old Berklee College of Music graduate - currently residing back home in her native LA - is talking about her new track "Feel Love", a song that burns with bittersweetness and shuffles musical with equal parts restraint and release: “Love can often make you lose control, and once I finally found independence at the right time I felt free and back in control of myself," says Syd.
“The lyrics definitely speak for themselves here, but clearly I'm a massive advocate for female empowerment...the sample of my fiveyear old sister at the start of the tune found it's way perfectly into 'feel love' because to me, I can see she'll grow up to do the same.”
We're promised an EP at some point but Syd's looking to London for her next move. "I think it suits where my music is going," she tells Best Fit. "After I bring these next couple singles, and an EP, to people's ears, I'm hoping to move to the UK for the summer. I think I've finally found the sound and by spending festival season there I imagine I'll find myself even more."
