Listen: Swim Deep – Honey (Oceaán Remix)
Following the craze for having an aquatic name with a repeated letter – think Splashh and Wavves – Manchester producer Oceaán makes washed-out music that sounds like it’s been submerged in an ice-cold jug of fresh lemonade.
After releasing soulful, summery track ‘Neéd U’ in July, he’s returned with a remix of Swim Deep’s ‘Honey’ that’s halfway between Foals and Summer Heart. Bleary-eyed reverb and thoughtful guitars are mixed with drums smoother than Luther Vandross ‘ blindingly white suit, before being diluted with Austin’s slow-motion vocals. It’s infinitely relaxing; if you could really put a shell to your ear and hear the sea, we’d imagine you’d be listening to this.
