Listen: Pale Honey - “Youth”
There is a remarkable polarity to Pale Honey’s first single “Youth”. The Gothenburg-based duo certainly knows how to build tension, layering drums and then vocals over a stark and playful synth line in the first verse. Within seconds of vocalist Tuva Lodmark’s fuzzed-out guitar making its appearance, the track detonates.
The chorus of “Youth” is reminiscent of Sleater-Kinney: packed with refined, and barely controlled, fury. Lodmark’s pensive vocals keep the verses blissful, though you’ll come to relish the band’s prevailing rock 'n’ roll outbursts.
Pale Honey is set to release their self-titled debut album on 4 May. They’ll be playing their first UK date at The Islington on 20 May — until then, check out “Youth” below.
