Now armed with restraint and a vocoder, SVFARI debuts third release “For Something You Love”
“For Something You Love” is the third cut to be taken from SVFARI’s upcoming debut EP, and is perhaps his strongest release yet.
Restraint is one of “For Something You Love”’s key qualities, with the track building slowly and never bubbling over by employing the cheap thrill of a heavy-handed drop. The extensive use of vocoder is new to his sparse, expansive sound, and is somewhat reminiscent of Fryars, another British producer-singer-songwriter. That said, the influences of R&B on SVFARI’s work are far more prominent.
“I wrote ‘For Something You Love’ when I ran into a friend from high school,” SVFARI explains, of the inspiration behind the track. “He had big dreams and a lot of talent, but had somehow spent the last four years in a job climbing the corporate ladder. He was finally making good money but felt stuck in a job he didn’t really believe in. This got me thinking; what if so many other people are living like this and don’t know there’s always another way? This song’s about life being too short not to challenge yourself to do something greater; to do something you love, even if you’re the only one who believes in it.”
