Sval is ready to save you from yourself on exhilarating electro-pop jam "(I Can't Be Your) Medicine"
Oslo-based pop provocateur Sval's new single "(I Can't Be Your) Medicine" is a shining example of her growth and commitment to crafting exceedingly brilliant modern pop.
Sval Rosenløw Eeg's first break came at the age of 12 when she won the televised singing competition Melodi Grand Prix Junior in 2011. From there she went onto to gain chart success at home releasing beguiling synth-pop tracks in her native Norwegian which culminated in the release of her impressive debut album Mellom oss, which translates to Between Us.
The same year she released her English language debut "Trustless", but then Sval was quiet until last year. Her 2019 EP Young Alien marked her an exciting moment for Sval it's seven tracks cover the transitory nature of youth, running into your ex at a party and feelings of being an outsider.
"(I Can't Be Your) Medicine" is her most immediate track to date. With its delicate piano-led introduction making way for pulsing synths and finger snaps, Sval creates a rush of joy with the help of her collaborators, Norwegian songwriting and production duo, TRXD.
“It’s about caring for someone so much and wanting to do everything for them and then realising that you can’t really save anyone alone, but you can do your very best to try," she explains. "I think we all have our demons and our struggles, and this song is about trying to help someone, whilst also trying to make them want to help themselves."
With its swelling pre-chorus and whisper-led hook "(I Can't Be Your) Medicine" sounds like a conversation Sval is having a conversation in her head as she searches through solutions. Her second release of the year, following "Jealousy", it's clear Sval's emotionally wrought pop is only set to get better.
