Following the unveiling of the infectious “Bubbles”, Brummie four-piece Superfood have today revealed “Melting”, which will make up the second part of their upcoming AA-side single.
There’s a loveable irony that underpins an upcoming band that call themselves Superfood. Amidst all the hype and bluster, it can be easy to forget what the product actually tastes like. But, as a pipe is sometimes just a pipe, a blueberry is sometimes just a blueberry. And that’s what this Birmingham quartet are: humble yet delicious blueberries.
Nutrition metaphors aside, “Melting” is as compelling as “Bubbles”, which hit the internet a few weeks ago, but while the latter had an angular and somewhat ominous twist to it, the former has more of a slacker-pop vibe. Frontman Dom Ganderton’s endearing vocals are given more of the spotlight this time around; moreover, there’s something quite James Mercer (of The Shins) about his timbre and range.
With a headline show at Camden Barfly next week and support slots for Peace next month, there’s still time to try sample Superfood before the year is over.
Bubbles/Melting will be released as on 9 December via Infectious Music.
