Listen: Sundara Karma - "Indigo Puff" [Premiere]
Sundara Karma are going to trick you with their latest single, “Indigo Puff”. The quartet of eighteen-year-old men in fact wear a mature outfit, sounding decidedly different from the sound one might envision when thinking about a band that has recently left school.
Its all in the sturdiness of the sound. A bass line and rhythm section so unavoidably imposing, paired with Foals -esque trivially exotic guitars, predispose the listener to imagine the band being much older. Oscar Lulu’s aesthetically pleasing vocals, filled with synesthesic symbolism and floridness, add to the cornucopia of this fully-grown track - a taster of Sundara Karma’s own brand of outlandish rock.
We can all cheer that the band is now out of school, so that they can totally focus on creating more of these enchantingly addictive gems.
“Indigo Puff” is out on October 6 via 203 Recordings and will be backed by the b-side “Hustle”. Make sure you catch the band on 24 September at the BBC Introducing, Oakford, Reading, and on 25 September at the Barfly, London.
