Summer Heart tries to reignite a relationship on breezy dream-pop outing "Good Together"
Sweden's Summer Heart tries to rekindle a relationship on breezy anthem "Good Together", which will feature on his forthcoming Ambitions EP.
"Good Together" is built on a catchy bassline and scaled back percussion that allows Summer Heart's vocals to take centre stage.
The minimilistic instrumentation starts evolving towards the first chorus with the introduction of the acoustic guitar melody, which provides a few moments of calm before the anthemic chorus is unleashed.
Summer Heart's dreamy harmonies skip over the consistent guitar melody in the chorus, which reiterates the hopeful tone of the song as he sings, "What if we got one more shot / Make things better / Baby by your side / Then maybe I’d be yours tonight / We'd be good together / Good together."
The breezy melodies give an optimistic backdrop for the song's lyrics, and Summer Heart even manages to take his dream-pop sound up a notch with the psychedelic synths.
Ambitions was written between California and his hometown of Malmö, Sweden. Summer Heart, aka David Alexander, says of his upcoming EP, "Before going on tour I always make sure to wrap up all the work I have postponed or ignored so I can come back to a blank slate. But since my tour got cancelled it was the first time in my adult life I actually didn't have anything to do. It was very freeing and I could sit down and think about what I wanted to create and what I had struggled with in the past. I realised I've just wanted too much and never really been able to slow down and see things from a different perspective. The EP itself is about having high ambitions and wanting to do so many things at the same time but not always knowing where to put your focus."
