"Subconscious Songs" sees DARK MTTR drop a new tracks for each lunar cycle
London producer DARK MTTR - aka Rob Leary - is making a novel name for himself by dropping the first of 12 tracks in line with the lunar cycle.
Poignant, moody house track "The Nature Of" is the first release from Subconscious Songs, a body of walk that will drop over the course of the year, with each one released alongside each full moon. "I've always had a strange fascination with the moon, as have many, and wanted the lunar cycle/moon phases to be a part of my work," Leary tells us.
"Or should I say my work to be a part of this cycle. I didn't just want to drop a whole record as an unknown artist, so loved the idea of releasing music constantly over a longer period of time. I'm really proud of all the tracks, so i wanted to make sure they get their own standalone moment for a month each, before belonging to one album for the duration of time."
Leary was formerly drummer in four-piece guitar band Pharaohs - who had some success at the turn of the decade - and played with Josephine Vander Gucht before she joined Oh Wonder. Five years on, he found an old piano outside his flat in North London and taught himself how to play, inspired by Yann Tiersen and Claude Debussy. His first track as Dark MTTR was laid down one late evening earlier this year and recorded an old Macbook
