Stream the rousing debut EP from the UK's westernmost band JR Green
Hailing from the village of Strontian, the brothers of JR Green might be the most westerly of all the acts we’ve ever featured on Best Fit.
Jacob and Rory (the JR’s of the band name) have spent their young seventeen-and-ninteen-year-old lives in the northwest Highlands of Scotland creating music which mixes the folk traditions of their locale (accordions, acoustic guitars and rhythms you could birl a lassie round to) with biting, angst-y polemics that recall the early days of Frightened Rabbit.
It’s no coincidence, then, that JR Green release their debut EP on Claire Mackay’s Hits The Fan Records – the home of FRabbits’ debut album, and label which lay dormant for nine years until releasing Kathryn Joseph’s award-winning album – and were discovered by Mackay’s producer husband Marcus through some rough and ready demos. Recording and mixing duties for the release were taken on by Mackay and Joe McAlinden (Linden, Superstar)
All this means we think you should be listening to this rousing music, so you can listen to an exclusive stream of the Bring The Witch Doctor below:
Bring The Witch Doctor is out on 30 October via Hits The Fan Records, and JR Green tour throughout November.
