Stream the new EP from Danish hip hop artist Felix De Luca
Copenhagen rapper Felix De Luca is all set to break out of his home town and become a future star with the release of his self-titled EP this week.
With beats and samples recalling the 90s hip hop sound of A Tribe Called Quest and Nas and rasping delivery reminiscent of Kendrick Lamar, Felix De Luca has all the elements in place to take his sound further than the confines of Denmark.
There's an overwhelming fuzz to everything De Luca does on his debut EP; the languid beats combine with the rapper's laid-back delivery, almost slurred from too much benzo and throaty from too much weed, to create an atmosphere that's chilled, but with more than a slight edge of danger. With the help of fellow Danish producer Dontaxaboutit, De Luca has made an EP that's equally at home on a lazy afternoon as it is smoke-filled late-night party room.
Of the EP and his influences, De Luca says "I like to go left when everyone else is going right, these days I´d rather talk about shit like designer furniture than sneakers, Verner Panton is my Michael Jordan".
Felix De Luca is an exciting talent, and here's hoping this release is the start of big things for the rapper.
