Stream the excellent 'remix-tape' from Swedish producer Saturday, Monday
Following on from singles “Headshake”, “The Ocean” and “The Road” – rising Swedish producer Ludvig Parment impresses with a 40 minute mix featuring his own re-imaginings of fellow Swedes Little Dragon, Elliphant, Marlene and more.
Parment comments on the inspiration behind the mix: “The idea around this remix tape was to be able to make a body of work that could speak as a unit rather than trying to make really catchy 3-4 minute singles. In many ways, doing a continuous mix with no track separation arguably captures the feeling of a classic album before it got as easy to just choose one or a few tracks and put it in your playlist. This way I can attempt to tell a more dynamic story.”
“As for the remix subjects, many are people that I know personally, at least to some degree, and I feel that even though many of them make music that is very different from mine we all share some sort of spirit. As such it makes sense to me to connect these contemporary young Swedish acts as they tell a story about the actual Swedish music scene as it stands today.”
Opening with a truly inspired re-take of Marlene’s epic “Bon Voyage”, the tracks that follow – created primarily with acapella versions of already well known songs – mesh together seamlessly for a diverse and inspiring trip.
