Stream: Memory Tapes forthcoming album ‘Player Piano’
Following a string of EP’s released under various “tape” related guises, New Jersey producer Davye Hawk released his debut album as Memory Tapes back in 2009. A dreamy dance-inspired record, Seek Magic secured Hawk’s unique sonic identity amidst a plethora of hazy, nostalgic numbers.
Now, having left the sequencing equipment behind him in favour of real instruments, Hawk’s forthcoming record Player Piano seems equally as concerned with carving out deliciously warped pop melodies as it is with retaining that fuzzy, electronic ambience. But don’t just take our word for it, you can stream the album in full via Soundcloud ahead of its official release via Something In Construction on 4 July. You can also head over to The Quietus for a complete track-by-track guide concocted by Hawk himself.
