Σtella offers up another taste of her crisp indie-pop on "I'll Never Be"
Hailing from Athens, Greece, Σtella (pronounced “Stella”) has been releasing her distinctive indie-pop since 2012.
Don’t let the unfamiliar letter put you off - Σtella’s tracks are a masterclass in innovative-yet-accessible songwriting, with the musician-cum-painter’s full-bodied voice taking centre stage.
New track “I’ll Never Be”, taken from next year’s sophomore album Works For You, sees the singer-songwriter moving in a clean and simplistic direction. Σtella’s honey-rich vocals overlies a crisp, no-frills backing that has echoes of classic '60s pop.
In her own words, Σtella explains that “'I’ll Never Be' is a song about absence. The distance from things we were never close to, or never will be. Relationships we failed to have and experiences we'll never be a part of."
The release of “I’ll Never Be” follows that of “Works For You” earlier this year, which was the first cut from Σtella’s upcoming second album. Her debut full-length project, released in 2015, was one of the year’s most successful Greek indie-pop records.
