Starling finds herself in the individual sound of "No Leader"
Plucked from the forthcoming album To Be Alive, Starling's new single "No Leader" sees her embark on a voyage of self-discovery.
Vivacious, polished and thoroughly surprising, rising alt-pop talent Starling bursts back onto the scene with new single “No Leader”. Characterised by Starling’s distinctive and piercing falsetto vocal and bold production, “No Leader” is an exciting track that delves into the kind of self-reflection possible through spiritual exploration.
As she explains "I had taken ayahuasca in the forest and it taught me that in all the time I had been looking to others for answers I should have been looking to myself. In a constant quest to find myself, to understand meaning, life and my purpose I tried every therapy, meditation, and immersion possible and in this started to realise, I was the one I was looking for.
“Every type of spiritual excursion was had from vipassana to trauma therapy to kundalini and it guided me, to me,” she continues. “This is the truth. When no one is here to guide us, or what we are told doesn't resonate, we must guide ourselves… and be our own leader."
Indeed, this positive and uplifting message is one that advocates for strength in individuality, something that Starling herself clearly holds in high esteem considering the DIY effort behind her yet-to-be released debut album To Be Alive that promises to tackle everything from dreams of sexual encounters to broken relationships. With the message of empowerment at the forefront of all her work, Starling is certainly an artist to keep an ear out for and one with such a unique timbre to her voice, you are certain not to forget in any hurry.
