Sports come out clean with new track "The Washing Machine"
With second album All Of Something released this autumn, Sports have shared a second new track "The Washing Machine".
It might start off with lyrics about the laundry, but as the wash cycle starts to spin, so does the metaphor, drawing out suppressed exasperation at being stuck in a rut. Chiming refrains and clear-cut vocals give the track an endearing emotional honesty.
"Will you stay with me? I’m having trouble breathing," Carmen Perry pleads at the track's end. "This is not my life," she states, resounding with a desperation to break free. For the times things don't always go to plan, for the down and out of luck, Sports have crafted a track that bounds with the optimism that there's a way out.
All Of Something, released via Father/Daughter Records on 30 October.
