Get beautifully downcast with Spacey Kevin on their new single "Lonely Tears"
Danish duo Spacey Kevin (that name!) recently - quietly - released their second single, and it's an absolute beauty.
Made up of Esben Møller and his childhood friend Michael Jakobsen, Spacey Kevin's "Lonely Tears" is a familiar-sounding and super-sad dream pop gem.
Reminiscent of Scott Walker and The Blue Nile (those gorgeous baritone vocals are a particular joy on this track) while also pulling in elements of '80s electronic pop and the retro-futurism of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, this track is a big old mopey ballad.
Haunting organ sounds, flat drums and twinkling guitar combine to make something downbeat, yet there's an innocent hopefulness nagging at the edges. With less than 1000 plays on Spotify for any of their tracks, Spacey Kevin clearly aren't blowing their own trumpet - but it's about time they did.
