Soleima sees the light through new single "Cracks", 2017's first big pop banger
Danish singer Soleima had a strong 2016 with a couple of great tunes in the shape of "Once Was" and "Wasted", and she's back today with the first taster from her forthcoming debut EP.
Produced with John Calvert (NAO), Soleima (real name Sarah Mariegaard) describes "Cracks" as "a song about hope. The hope that there is something good coming in the future, no matter how bad the present can sometimes seem. I’m, like many others, filled up with these kinds of thoughts at the moment.”
There's woozy synths alongside the Dane's helium vocals which add a light and slightly dizzying touch to the song, while snapping beats and funk guitar add a huge soulful edge to the chorus. Soleima's voice takes on a deeper R&B tone here, and there's a summer drop top vibe that belies a January release date.
