Slow Riot reveal beautifully languid art-rock track "Awake For Days”
Irish post punk trio Slow Riot have revealed “Awake For Days”, which appears as the b-side for their latest single “Trophy Wife”.
Featuring a more mature sound than on some of their previous efforts, “Awake For Days” moves away from the band's shoegaze roots with frontman Niall Clancy exploring a more laid back, art-rock groove reminiscent of Julian Casablancas and Primary Colours-era The Horrors.
The song starts with a blaze of fuzz before subsiding into a more indie-inspired verse, later fading out through a deluge of drone noise.
The lyrics “do it my way” accompany an uneasy four-minute listen where even the track's pop-laced chorus harbours dark undertones. A disconcerting and alluring listen.
