Scandi-pop sensation Skott drops the slow-burning “Mermaid”
Never one for straightforward pop, the fast-rising Swede known as Skott reveals her next enticing cut, “Mermaid”.
The follow-up to her only release of 2017 so far, “Glitter and Gloss”, “Mermaid” received its first play earlier this week via Annie Mac’s show on Radio 1. The new cut eschews the heavier path its predecessor took, building slowly with tinkling piano and harp to a sweeping, opulent chorus. Skott’s vocal performance is impressively cinematic, her range proving as jaw-dropping as ever throughout. Via Facebook, Skott tells fans that “Mermaid” is “quite special to [her]”, being the first song she wrote under her current moniker.
Skott plays a sold out date at London’s Pickle Factory on 13 September, before joining fellow Swede MØ on her UK tour in October. The pair will play dates in Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Norwich, and Birmingham.
