Shy Beast announce debut EP with the glam-pop groove of “Back With Me”
Austin’s Mariclaire Glaeser has abandoned her previous moniker of MCG, now releasing under the name Shy Beast along with bandmates David Tenczar, Andrew Bennett, Jay Cesak, and Drew Silverman.
The band “invite you to hop on for a rumbling ride through the forests of imagination to the deep dark hideouts of the heart,” as they release “Back With Me”, the first shimmering single from their self-titled debut EP. Backed up by her pride of musicians, Glaeser’s voice soars in complementary layers above jangling guitar lines and sprightly drum beats. If we have to name names, the resulting effervescent groove is somewhat reminiscent of upbeat dream-poppers Tennis, but Glaeser’s resonant vowels and Tenczar’s noodling guitar lines carve this beast a niche all of its own.
"The song ‘Back With Me’ comes from a place of feeling like you don't have to apologise anymore for being yourself,” Glaeser explains of the track. “It also speaks to the idea of relying on your instincts. If you don't want to dig that deeply, it's also just a fun song to dance to."
