Watch: She's So Rad – “Levels” [Premiere]
Is there something in the water in New Zealand at the moment? Whatever the cause, a country of just 4.5 million is producing a disproportionate amount of great music these days. Here to add to that growing list is Auckland’s She’s So Rad and their new video for “Levels”, premiering today on Best Fit.
-Musically, “Levels” expands on the band’s shoegazey history and approaches its pop ambitions more directly. The four-piece don’t bury the lede in distortion this time around as a clear, playful synth starts us off before giving way to a pristine lead guitar line that dominates the remainder of the song. The accompanying video—featuring footage of skateboarder Christian Low cruising through Melbourne (shot by Liam Bachler)—pays HD homage to the band’s lo-fi first video for “Circles”, acknowledging both the band’s past and its ongoing musical transition, one kickflip at a time.
