Shaqdi isn't bothered about pleasing anyone on sultry new track "Better"
The Swedish newcomer makes a bold statement of self confidence with her new song "Better".
The song is the second track to be released from her upcoming debut EP entitled Colourless, which is due out next month. On the surface, "Better" is an entincing, sultry jam where Shaqdi's voice ushers you in and the tantalising guitar riff swirls in a smokey, whiskey-induced manner, giving off some serious bedroom vibes.
Yet, beneath its sensuous exterior, the song is really about rejecting the opinion of others and pokes fun at the beauty standards that society imposes on us all. The accompanying video enhances the central message, where Shaqdi changes her image multiple times, ultimately showing us that we shouldn't give a damn about what people think and instead should revel in our differences.
"I used to care a lot about how I looked and what other people thought about me and expected from me," explains the London-based artist. "I was always trying my best to please people and men in particular. I started to get really sick of the unrealistic expectations society have for women which inspired me to write the song."
