Shagabond and Noah rustle up a blissful storm on new track "Arouse"
Shagabond and Noah first met when Noah’s dad and Shagabond’s Aunt started dating. As they say, sometimes the stars align and things are just meant to be. In the years that followed, the pair have continued to make music together in different forms and are now gearing up for the release of their collaborative EP.
"Arouse" is a song that pretty much does what it says on the tin. It sees the Canadian pair, who hail from Toronto, put the full expanse of their musical dexterity on display, sauntering along a gentle cascading beat that simmers with summery lust and passion, with lyrics that perfectly depict the early stages of a new love and all the excitement that comes with it.
The production is caramel smooth, and it becomes clear how Shagabond has got the interest of artists such as Goldlink and Boi-1da. The track practically glistens with a smoky romance that was tailormade to soundtrack a steamy situation and perfectly lays the groundwork for their upcoming collaborative EP entitled Everything All At Once that is due to be released later this year.
Explaining how the track came together, Shagabond says “We decided to meet up in Toronto for some studio time last September. I had a bunch of beats I had been working on over the summer that I was really excited to show Noah, but only one really stood out at the time. During an overnight session at a low-key studio in Toronto’s East end, we basically hashed out the entire track, but couldn’t figure out lyrics on the spot and left placeholder melodies instead. Over time we were never able to place lyrics for the original melodies and decided to completely rework the melodies and change the pitch of the song altogether.”
