Still growing into her Sea Change moniker, Ellen.W. Sundes’ explorations into electronic pop are as brave as they are cautious, and new track “Bridges” is no exception.
Always subtle, always immersive; on the surface it feels like the Norwegian artist is exploring already familiar sonic territory. But her attention to detail pushes creations like “Bridges” beyond the realms of bedroom producer and into a different, altogether more fascinating world.
If the twisting, 80s-indebted synths of “Bridges” were beefed up you could imagine them filling late night dance floors. If they were stripped back you could imagine those hazy vocals and tropical beats would be perfect for dreamy, summer days. But as it is, they come together in perfect harmony to occupy a wonderfully unique space in between the two. Part ambient haze, part scandi pop, part dance anthem - “Bridges” should be all the reasons you need to check Sea Change out at this year’s Great Escape Festival.
