Impeccable Norwegian pop queen Sandra Kolstad unveils her captivating new single "BLING BLING BLING"
Norway's Sandra Kolstad has today revealed a second brilliant single from her eagerly-awaited new album.
Following on from the Miss Tati-featuring "Mango Corner", Kolstad has slowed the tempo down a touch with the personal "BLING BLING BLING".
Over sparse beats and gently warping synths, Kolstad takes us on a journey through the peaks and troughs of a relationship, the obsession with things that glister and the peering into a void so dark it seems hope is lost. "BLING BLING BLING" is both barely-there as a song, yet utterly complete. Sandra Kolstad is the most compelling of storytellers.
"'BLING BLING BLING' is a very personal song, maybe the most personal song I've ever written," says the Norwegian. "It's about moving far up high and way down low, dangerously fast. It is about trying to grasp the void that sometimes opens up. About being weak and strong at the same time, silver and gold. About the glimpses of light that sometimes make you think that there actually is a meaning in both the heights and depths and voids: BLING BLING BLING"
Recorded with the help of legendary producer Yngve Sætre, Danish artist Asbjørn and Martin Smoge, and with a video shot by Argentinian artist Virginia Gilles, "BLING BLING BLING" confirms Kolstad's place as one of the most intriguing pop acts around.
