San Fermin share their woodwind-laced cover of Weezer's "Buddy Holly" [Premiere]
San Fermin are sharing their cover of Weezer's "Buddy Holly" now on Best Fit.
The original track is one of Weezer's biggest crossover hits, and has been given a stunning jazz-infused rework by Ellis Ludwig-Leone and the crew. That riff is now the domain of barbed woodwind, while the jittering axe chords are boingy piano now. It's mostly faithful, reinterpreting the song in a new genre with new instruments instead of tearing it up, and its fascinating to see what San Fermin can do with such a classic track. Now an epic, Arcade Fire-y lounge anthem, it's definitely different, but definitely fantastic.
San Fermin's second record Jackrabbit is out now on Downtown.
