Listen: Saint Raymond - "Everything She Wants" (Everything Everything remix) [Premiere]
Saint Raymond has had a whirlwind year with top iTunes chart positions, extensive radio plays and European tour support for HAIM. Not bad for a 19-year-old lad from Nottingham who only released his debut EP last year. Now, Manchester quirk-pop masters Everything Everything have got their mitts on “Everything She Wants”, and the results are startling.
Where the original’s breezy indie-pop make-up is still smudged into the corners of the mix, Everything Everything have done what they do best: having you second guess their next move. In the quartet’s typically barmy and compelling style, tempos are whizzed and earworm samples are lodged between synapses, electrifying enough to induce a giant musical haemorrhage. Saint Raymond’s bopping basslines and spongey guitar riffs twist and turn, brightened by crisp production, as the band play gleefully with the stems. As far as remixes go, they don’t get much better than this.
Saint Raymond’s Ghosts EP is released on 12 May via Warner Music UK (pre-order here). He headlines Scala, London on 14 May.
