Australian musician RY X has the honour of releasing the first record on Dumont Dumont, the new label from Imperial’s Magnus Bohman.
First we were treated to the Bon Iver-ish ‘Berlin‘, a simply arranged track, no less oozing with subtlety and grace, and now we have another haunting teaser in the form of ‘Vampires’. Distantly cracked hand percussion and tumbling guitar figures pivot around RY X’s soothing tones once more, and although it’s a tried technique, ‘Vampires’ feels intelligent and intuitive beyond anything we’ve heard done in acoustic circles for a long while. Big things are to be expected of the hirsute songsmith.
The Berlin EP is out on 28 August via Dumont Dumont.
