RKCB deliver a promise of clarity on new track "Enough"
Los Angeles duo RKCB serve up new track “Enough”, adding another layer to their R&B pop dreamscape.
Taken from their forthcoming debut EP In Contrast, the stage is set for the pair, following their much lauded lead single “Elevated”, plus collaborations with rising stars Demo Taped and Opia.
As the closing track on In Contrast, "Enough" plays to the strengths RKCB have already shown with their previous releases. There’s an inviting warmth emanating from the vocals, delivering a soothing melody over the downbeat ambient production before making way for choppy beats and samples. The band see “Enough” as the track which captures the “two themes that [they] want to explore on [the] EP”, explaining that the track “is both the exasperation and exclamation of commitment”.
On a more poignant note “[“Enough”] expresses a real moment of frustration with a promise of clarity.” Something which sounds initially confusing, and it’s not until the end of the track where you can take stead and evaluate exactly what that means. The pulsing beat strips away leaving a few sparse chords and a metaphor which describes that moment frustration and clarity perfectly. “I can try to fly away from you when you comfort me / but I’m a bird that’s losing altitude darling you’re the sea.”
In Contrast is a fully formed short player whetting the appetite for the future when the pair is bound to expand their already vast sounding catalogue. “Enough” works as both a standalone track and the finale of this impressive collection.
