Here’s a new one that could quite comfortably make the leap from unknown to mainstream with the right kind of nurturing. Ren Harvieu is a young lass from Manchester and, at only 20 years old, is blessed with some fairly outstanding vocal chords. What picks her apart from the depressing, oversaturated slagheap of the current UK female solo market is the humane nature of her vocal – a genuine longing and downtrodden beauty that is bereft from the likes of Ellie Goulding, Clare Maguire et al. Yes, it’s AOR, music your mam would probably like, whatever – there’s a void in the market opened up by Adele’s massive gob and it needs filling. And fast. Ren might just be the girl to do it.
Check out ‘Through The Night’ and her jaw dropping cover of the Big O’s ‘Cryin’ below.
