RAAVE TAPES can't do casual on latest their experimental pop smash "Habitual"
RAAVE TAPES are rave-ready with "Habitual" and the track's massive pop hooks and industrial breakdown.
The Australian duo say they put the "bitch" in "Habitual" as they push their experimental pop sound further than ever before. Made up of collaborators Lindsey O’Connell and Joab Eastley, this is the pair's first release since they dropping the also massive-sounding "Red Flag" in March.
Eastley says “throughout the recording process, we found moments where we asked ourselves “Can we get away with this? Are we allowed to do it?” Then we remembered that the points are made-up and nothing actually matters. We stood by our game-plan of unapologetically committing to guilty pleasures. Live it up baby.”
Taking cues from Gaga, Nelly Furtado, Charli XCX and Nine Inch Nails, "Habitual" sounds like it could've been made for the Ashley Too episode of Black Mirror. ""Habitual" is a trick of the light, taking pop hooks and running an undercurrent of desperation beneath the surface,” O’Connell explains.
“It’s a self-reflection on the errors and faults we find in our behaviours, cutting the moody tones with a distinct pop edge and plays on words. We’ve blended our new production style with the original RAAVE TAPES ethos: not taking ourselves too seriously whilst discussing serious themes.”
If you're lucky enough to be in Sydney you can get yourselves to the "Habitual" COVID-safe single release show – playing two sets tomorrow (26 November), tickets are still available for their 6pm outing.
